the busy kicks in. my econs prof nearly gave me a heart attack when she sent the email 'how to do your homework' on sunday night, and having me wake up early monday morning, frantically printing notes and the problem set to realise it was only due sept 7th. nice. smu is making me realise all the stuff i suck at, contrary to my tp experience. so poly was quite a scam. my timetable is slowly being occupied by meetings and more meetings, and i seem to have quite a backlog of stuff on my to-do list, which is bad. i need to read. i need to do slides. i have to start on my journal and observation book. i need to do my econs problem set. and some other homework i can't remember. all that on top of my screwed up immune system that refuses to get the virus out of me.

and so the first week of school whizzes past. thats 14 weeks to the end of my first semester. counting down never felt so stressful since the last countdown was a two year wait to considerable happiness. my first saturday morning was spent in school for IS101 brief, where they showed this:
and my coming saturday morning will also be spent in school for an exemption test. oh well. things should start piling up this week. and my recovered-indigestion-turned-sore-throat-turned-cold isn't helping very much. bloody immunity system seems to be deteriorating prematurely. so long, weekend!
IS101 was surprisingly enjoyable. i think its my only satisfied bid this sem. my prof showed this vid in class, which is probably true very funny
today didn't feel like the day one of anything. it wasn't like enlistment day or the first day at poly or whatever. maybe its because i'm already tired of used to (already?) heading to school for starring and ftb and meta and all the talks and whatnot. my first seminar ever was on econs, and my prof is newer to smu than myself. she got here from korea like two weeks ago. awesome. and i probably only understood half of whatever was going on in class, which is bad, really. coming from a background where i understood most of my syllabus, this is probably one change i have to embrace one way or another. tomorrow's a holiday so far, until the whole smu stress / busy thing kicks in. so yeah, i'm going to treasure my sleep, while i still can.
i think i'm over and done with bidding, after three freaking windows of torture. unfortunately, only two out of six of the original ideal slots/profs made it. end of the day, i'm seeing 4.0 CUs instead of 5.0, and this is how it looks like at the moment:

oh well..
so i decided to go for metamorphosis (my faculty camp) after all, since i had that two extra off days from [refer to images below]. the camp was quite slack actually, compared to FTB, and the $20 was so worth it for the food and games and all. also if you consider that my entire clan (50+ people) walked away with an ipod shuffle each
we did module bidding during camp, and i'm bloody disappointed with the economic inflation already. only managed to get 2 out of 4 mods that i bid for. looks like my aiming to be the minimum bid benchmark plan kinda failed. oh well. good news is, i wasted only e$2.73 on the 2 mods i got, so its not too bad.
went back to camp on day 3 of meta for civilian conversion. got quite a bit of stuff:

plus ord artwork gift courtesy of many hours from junqing and lijin:
and of course my completed civilian kit ![]()

now that meta is over, i'm just about done with all the pre-school activities, besides the enrichment course that i'm going to TA in next week. happy national day weekend everyone!
