4 days of personal off + 1 day of birthday off + labour day = 10 days to relax.
thursday night. went rounding with jc, ivan, boon, et al. yishun dam. south buona vista. pasir panjang. west coast mac. nus. kent ridge park hilltop. shagged.
labour day weekend. stoned at home mostly. with all the kids roaming the streets and a whole week ahead to yourself, who wouldn't? happy birthday to fuei and qinghui!
sunday night. msp supper. hanwei drove baofa and i all the way to nus to meet yizhe, suhui, and chunsiong to have cheese prata, where we made ourselves very aware. shut up and sit down. thanks to hw for the ride and supper!
monday and tuesday: lazed around mostly. did some random shopping, bought some shirts, new dunks, and had a haircut.

tuesday afternoon. shock of the week. got a call from my spec saying that i was needed back in camp tonight for the next day's outfield. and that apparently, i happily went on my 5-day off spree when it wasn't approved. these days, verbal approvals don't count. how nice, i was awol and nobody noticed for a day and a half. obviously the thought of returning to camp last minute was repulsive, so i was prepared to take counter-measures in the event that i was coerced. eventually, my officer smsed to cancel last, and alls well that ends well.
tuesday night. supper with sabb. ended up at swensens at airport cause someone was craving and had yam ice cream forced down my throat. okay maybe it wasn't that bad, but it really tastes artificial though, imho :x the girl was close to completing her topless five, which is quite a scary ice cream appetite if you ask me. thanks for supper and the books!
wednesday. happy birthday baofa! day out with wanjia, who took half day off. we catched the international, which is pretty draggy for a conspiracy theory flick, and had a really abrupt ending. yet another trailer-overrates-film cliché. or that i was pretty critical for its 4-star rating. we headed to rakuzen at millenia for dinner, which was a cosy chic place to chill, but the food was only so-so. miss unadventurous ordered the usual salmon sashimi, golden roll, and niku udon while i had my zaru soba. ended the day with some strawberry dessert and coffee at tcc. thanks for movie and dinner (:
thursday. watched two point one decades of life roll by. thank you all for the wishes:
cindy, luke, weimin, dad & mum, qinghui, zihui, sister, baofa, imelda, sabby, pengwei, adam, wanjia, vanessa, hanmei, luppy, fuei, bihui, royston, yahui, weekhiang, huiting, susu, shijin, celes, maurice, and yukwai.
met up with cindy, weekhiang, and huiting for dinner. kim gary @ vivo, where i couldn't finish my 3-layered stack of lamp chop. they got me a mini micro (and overpriced
) cake from bakerzin and i made it nano by dividing it further into four. thanks for dinner and the cake that had trouble balancing that single candle :x happened to meet fuei at the bus stop and we took 10 back together, where she called hanmei from my phone and made it sound like some illicit affair
friday. dinner with family at this new place called spruce (so new the website isn't done yet), off tanglin road but rather inconspicuous. the ambience was not bad, situated around lush greenery. i requested for indoor seating after i read reviews on the suicidal bugs at the outdoor seating. main concern was that food took forever to come. since we were seated beside the cheese bar, we noticed they employed this guy to specifically cut cheese and arrange it nicely on plates the whole night.

then this waiter spilt chicken gravy onto bryan's iphone while another waiter made dad's fish nosedive to the ground at the same instance. accidents aside, food was not that bad. starters: bread with 3 dips was a good opener, crepe with onion and truffles was a bit strong for my taste, salad was so-so.

mains: rostierre chicken (less gravy heh) was nicely seasoned, my steak frites was a bit too red but tender and packed flavour, mum had trouble with the whole snapper and all the bones, while dad complained his fish's batter was too hard.

drinks: lemonade with mint: super sour. fresh grapefruit juice: super duper sour. arnold palmer was not too bad. my iced masala tea was interesting, tasted like an iced chai latte though. this place gets a 3/5 from me.

vesak day on a saturday
msp steamboat @ omb olio. yizhe, joseph, baofa, chunsiong, suhui, hanwei, kahmeng, weijie, and this new nus dude from china. steamboat itself was really filling. plus the watermelon cs dissected with a butter knife and the chocolate cake we got from tcc for the may birthdays (the first four in the above list plus me). was nice to relive the good old days of foosball, pool, free drinks, and xbox-ing. though theres a proper big-ass hdtv now and rock band with the full setup, which was really fun!
mother's day. the annual buffet lunch with grandma was scrapped in favour of eating at her place instead. but we had takeaway nasi padang from rendezvous. otherwise a quiet sunday to end another of my temporary civilian streaks. till next time (:
