touched down at 5.30am this morning after a 10 hour flight back, which i spent watching 2½ movies, listening to an album, and playing some old school nintendo classics. feeling a little jetlagged since 6 hours went out the window.
anyway, its been a great experience, being my first and potentially last overseas exercise. the climate was probably the most influencing factor, since we had to brave the freezing and dry weather. imagine waking up at 6am+ when its 4°C, either outfield or having to run in pt kit. you seriously don't feel like going anywhere and have to drag yourself to walk to the cookhouse or toilet. then again, its been almost 3 weeks of no sweating, which is a wonderful thing outfield. diet-wise, food in camp is super, and outfield is just maggi everyday because the combat rations are always cold from the natural aircon.
lots of big shots came to visit. COA CDF DM etc. heard that it made some news back home, and my dad even left the half-page straits times article on my desk.
R&R was quite disappointing though, considering those 2 days were deducted from my off days. most of it was spent on the road, and we had to literally rush everywhere: to eat, shop, admire scenery, then quickly back on the bus. by the time we first saw a decent mall to shop at, it was already closed and we had to entertain ourselves window shopping. pathetic, i know. oh well, at least the hotels were not bad: one night at a 3« and the next at a 4«.
loads of other stories to share, but i can't go into details here, lest msd stumbles upon this and i get charged or something..
