sprain my ankle. great timing. confined myself.

after a sleep-deprived night in camp, i subjected myself to another sleep-deprived night at home since i was heading to the Singapore Airshow this morning, thanks to xuanyang for the free ticket. its held at the new exhibition centre, which is much much much further than the old one, and built completely on reclaimed land. the exhibition itself was huge. lots to see, some stuff are a bit more applicable since they're relevant to uh.. my current job. the aerobatics display was only so-so. the rsaf black knights performance was the only impressive show. the F15 was a bore and the Airbus A380 was more.. "conservative" in maneuvering than its '06 show. still, it was the star of the show:

i had to stand pretty far to get this one:

leaving the site was a disaster though. it was either cab or the $5 coach, which had poorly managed queues which resulted in total chaos at the pick-up area. even the special ops command folks in red berets couldn't control the crowd. so much for being riot police. that sums my day.
well, not quite, since the actual parade / ceremony / whatever will be held on monday and the postings haven't been officially released (no surprise there since theres information leakage all over the place). but yeah, at least now my uniform looks less recruit-ish with the formation and vocation tags. had a small celebration last night at dbl o and seems like everyone got wasted had fun
kudos to ken for being conducting and ensuring everyone got home in one piece. vindication from the trainee life ![]()
after spending half the week on deployment drill and the not-too-bad outfield exercise, the other half was spent on super annoying "value-added" work for my unit's change of command parade. that led to a late bookout yesterday, and everyone still has to book in early tomorrow because of uh.. test complications. grrr. next week theres 120th arty anniversary "celebrations", and what better way to celebrate than to conduct weird road relays and swimming competitions and what-not
that equals lots more sh!t work to be pushed to trainees
oh well..
holiday withdrawal syndrome. not good for health. five days of super slacking, angpao collecting, celebrating, pure entertainment, plus too much time behind the wheel. and it all ends tonight, plus the big bang of tommorow's two-day no-sleep outfield exercise. grr
everything will end.. soon.
新年快乐!
happy chinese new year! well wishes for everyone. to health, to safety, to studies, to less chiong sua-ing, and definitely to big fat bank balances! 恭喜发财!
super long bookout. tuesday to sunday. tomorrow is battalion celebration: movie screening at plaza sing. (support local talent.. even if it scored a half star 8Days rating.) i think we have the entire theatre. popcorn indented as well. not too bad. the day after tomorrow, the family is flying off to bangkok while i'll stone on this sunny island and recuperate from deployment drill and soc. plus get back my lost sleep to prepare for monday's outfield exercise, which should be the last outfield before i pass out
lalala~
super pissed to be serving two consecutive weekends of guard duty when theres another batch of people who didn't serve two weeks. apparently its too hard to plan an alternating schedule. so on top of not being able to sleep a single night at home this week, the very next day just has to be outfield deployment day. grrr.
but on a lighter note, everyone in ns should have received their early pay by now. plus the gst offset package for some. oh well, money is good consolation.
