back to a 9am monday after 4 8-hour shifts is crazy its not everyday you get questioned by two police officers on why five of you are sitting outside a community centre at 11pm, tapping power from a telecom riser to a 12-outlet extension thats powering 10 laptops. and yeah, that includes the messy cabling everywhere. did i mention everyone was in berms and sandals/slippers? oh well..

i forgot to mention the part where the two officers asked for identification and i wanted to shoot myself. because that was shift 4 of 4 and after shift 3 i was like.. why do i bother bringing my pass? and conveniently left it at home. so i was identification-less when questioned. bummer. had to let them copy my IC like i committed a crime or something. sheesh.

its almost sunrise and i'm blogging live from kovan hub, where i've been sitting for the past two hours. i'm in the middle of my third shift, and things are looking good at the moment. my shift started at 3am, so i reckoned it would be hard to flag a cab at that hour. i dialed 6552-1111, only to be put on hold for 6 bloody minutes while listening to comfort's annoying corporate song promising to be always there for you any time of the day. yeah right. by the end of the 6 minutes i had already walked out to the main road where i flagged a cab in less than a minute. yeah, a comfort cab, no less. lousy booking service! 'nuff said.

i’m sitting outside toa payoh sports hall now typing into microsoft word.. since i can’t get a wireless connection to the very network i’m working on. i'm in the sports hall with an excellent conection now

so anyway, this has been (and is going to be) a crazy, super shagged weekend for me. i’m doing throughput tests this weekend, because singtel wants the results by tuesday and we need to get it done by monday. so we’re working 24 hours in shifts for the weekend.. and my first shift started directly after work yesterday. i got to work at 9am and flagged a cab at 3am, which means that i was working 18 hours non-stop. i chose to do alternate shifts, so its 8 hours work, 8 hours to go home, sleep, and come back for another 8 hours. so now it’s the start of my 2nd shift, and i’m feeling super duper shagged even before work starts. but since i don’t need to head to the office, i don’t need to look presentable. but for some really anal reason, i look uber rich and philanthropic in berms and sandals, at least to the pesky kids asking for donations at toa payoh central. the worst part: there is no starbucks / coffee bean / any decent coffee-selling place in toa payoh central. i had to settle for coffeeshop kopi to get my caffeine shot. urgh. alrighty thats all for now.

something thats universally lacking in society. unfortunate.

was at vivo just now to catch the order of the phoenix, and it was a last minute thing so i had to settle for 2nd row seats. it was a 3pm slot and i stepped in at about 3.05, because we all know GV hearts excessive commercials. it was a small theater, and this family had the aisle seats. i'm just going to fire off on why they piss me off..

they brought a baby, and placed the pram beside the aisle seat, effectively blocking all means of access to my seat. i said "excuse me", and the mother didn't bat an eyelid, which led me to shove myself through, accidentally nudging the pram. i didn't really know, or care, for that matter, if the baby was in the pram. an apology was the last thing on my mind.

fine. i got to my seat, and daniel radcliffe started flying around on his firebolt. so, apparently babies don't enjoy dolby surround and bass-blasting subwoofers as much as the rest of us do, which might explain the unbearable crying, shrieking and screaming. oh please, use your slightest common sense and you'd know that bringing a baby into a movie theater is a crime. its only going to trouble yourself, and the hundred other annoyed folks who didn't pay to get their movie ruined by a brainless twert like yourself.

so besides the baby, they brought along another kid. someone old enough to speak but not old enough to think, which somehow gave her the right to be resident commentator for chinese nationals in this movie. the accent was unmistakable given its volume, not that the mother gave a damn, since she joined in occasionally.

seriously, whats wrong with these people? come all the way from china, use my country's resources, get my country's grants that are paid for by citizen taxpayers, then treat a public theater like your bloody home. with absolutely no sense of respect, consideration, or guilt for an entire audience of extremely peeved folks who were constantly shhh-ing.

to say that they were merely inconsiderate would be an understatement. in my perspective, they were, are, and will continue to be deplorable, opprobrious, and reprehensible pests in any public area. so there.

[i doubt discrimination against my own race is considered racism. maybe this is.. nationalism or something..]
